Willie's Chili

A Willie B Good Letter

Happy August! The lazy and HOT days of summer are coming to an end and preschoolers through college kids are preparing to head back to school. Volunteer sign-up sheets are being circulated through email or stacked in color-coded piles on tables scattered around school cafeterias. Despite the fact that they were in their 60s when I was in the high school band, my parents volunteered at almost every activity my sister and I were involved in. My dad’s, (Willie B. Good’s) favorite was the annual Chili Supp... read more

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! May the luck of the Irish be with you in 2017. Many of you have heard the story below before but every few years I think it bears r I don’t know about you, but I really don’t know much about my lineage beyond the fact that my Great Great Grandfather was a bootlegger in Arkansas. The notes and letters from those who are no longer with us become more precious as the years fly by and th... read more

Happy Fall! I absolutely love fall in New Mexico. Growing up as the daughter of Willie B. Good, however, fall meant football. High school football, college football and professional football, Willie loved them all. He was passionate about the Midland High School Bulldogs, the University of Oklahoma Sooners, his alma mater the SMU ponies, and his beloved Dallas Cowboys coached by the legendary Tom Landry. It was not until I was out of college, did I truly understand the history and intensity of Willie’s love ... read more

Summer Roadtrip to Cooper

A Willie B Good Letter
Posted by Janie Rowe on June 02, 2016 in  Willie B Good Letters
Since we have celebrated and checked Memorial Day off the calendar, summer can officially begin. As the daughter of Willie B. Good, summer meant road trips to see relatives. Most of Willie’s family still leaved in and around the small East Texas town of Cooper. With bags packed and ham sandwiches in the cooler we headed to Cooper, Texas. Most people have never heard of Cooper. Cooper is the county seat of Delta County, and is twenty-four miles southwest of the more famous East Texas town of Paris, Texas. Eve... read more
